Want to learn to fly
fish?
Fisherman's Lodge is offering a two day fly fishing school presented by
professional fly fishing guide Jim Traylor. Jim will teach casting techniques, fly tying,
knot tying and related topics. Classes will be held in the conference room, and casting
lessons held on the lodge lawn. On the second day, conditions permitting, we'll take you
out fishing on the White River to try out what you have learned in school.
Day One
The first day starts in the conference room with a 1 hour video presentation by
Bill Gammel called "The Essence of Fly Casting". Following the video Jim
gives 2 hours of casting instruction on the lawn. After an hour for
lunch we start the afternoon session. Jim teaches a 2 hour session on fly fishing
techniques and knot tying followed by 2 hours of casting on the lawn.
Day Two
The second day begins with a review of casting and a 1 hour video. Following the video Jim
gives 3 hours of casting instruction on the lawn. After an hour for
lunch we start the final afternoon session, which is when we go out on the White
River for about four hours applying the techniques we've learned, and to do some fly
fishing. (Note: In case of high water Jim will present tying demos and instruction, knots,
and techniques).
About Jim Traylor
Jim has been a fly fishing guide on the White and North
Fork Rivers since 1995. He is a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, attentive, and patient
teacher. Jim has been teaching people how to fly fish for many years and wants them to
have fun and enjoy it.
Fly-fishing classes will be given on the
following dates:
May 29th & 30th
June 19th & 20th
July - No school
August 21st & 22nd
September 11th & 12th
October 16th & 17th
November 13th & 14th
December 4th & 5th
We have a maximum of six (6) persons per class.
The price is $445.00 per person and includes the
following:
2 nights lodging at The Fisherman's Lodge
2 breakfast meals and 2 dinners at the Lodge
2 days fly fishing instruction given by Jim Traylor
fishing license & trout permit (3 day license)
